Reporting to the Sr. Director of IT Program Management, the Solutions Architect (SA) will be responsible for proactively and holistically leading or supporting enterprise architecture activities for creating deliverables that guide the developing direction for managing a portfolio of solutions in response to disruptive forces, and driving achieving targeted business outcomes. Solutions include systems (including applications, technologies, processes and information), shared infrastructure services and shared application services. The SA will provide the necessary leadership, analysis and design tasks related to the development of an enterprise architecture. This individual creates deliverables that help develop a direction for managing the business's portfolio of "to be" and "as is" solutions and components to better match targeted business outcome objectives. The SA will coach, mentor and influence IT and business stakeholders on how best to leverage the digital platforms, solutions and maximize business value.


  • Recommends and establishes the enterprise architecture strategies, processes, and methodologies
  • Understand business drivers and business capabilities (future and current state), and determine corresponding enterprise system designs and change requirements to drive the organization's targeted business outcomes.
  • Design and lead the implementation of a solutions architecture across a group of specific business applications or technologies based on enterprise business strategy, business capabilities and business requirements.
  • Shares best practices, lessons learned and constantly updates the technical system architecture requirements based on changing technologies, and knowledge related to recent, current and upcoming vendor products and solutions.
  • Advise senior ITS leadership on matters related to enterprise IT Strategy, Architecture and Standards.
  • Participate in architectural review functions and ensure adherence to technology standards and architecture.
  • Analyzes current architecture to identify weaknesses and develop opportunities for improvement such as improving business processes, expanding capacity, reducing time and cost, and increasing effectiveness.
  • Assist in enterprise wide research, evaluation, design and testing of new technologies that improve and enhance enterprise systems reliability, availability and serviceability.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve architectural artifacts, including reference architectures, future state architecture, guiding principles, roadmaps, patterns, standards, etc.
  • Collaborate with the various ITS teams to ensure that technology decisions align with the overall Enterprise Architecture Roadmaps.
  • Facilitate the development of standards, architectural governance, design patterns and IT best practices.
  • Keeps abreast of healthcare industry trends in addition to technology trends.



  • Possess a 4-year college degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or Business Administration, or equivalent working experience


  • Understands architecture constructs (architecture/design patterns, SOAP, REST etc.) and development methodologies (Agile, Iterative, Waterfall etc.)
  • Understanding of various enterprise architecture frameworks (Zachman, TOGAF, FEAF, etc)
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills, including teamwork, facilitation and negotiation
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills: articulate and effective communicator and presenter, able to describe complex problems and solutions in simple or understandable terms
  • Demonstrates both strong analytic and big picture capabilities in problem solving approaches
  • Able to teach others and explain complex concepts with clarity, educating through knowledge sharing presentations and written documents
  • Excellent understanding of application development methodologies and infrastructure and network architecture
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work with multiple priorities, sometimes under limited time constraints
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to understand the long-term ("big picture") and short-term perspectives of situations
  • Proven ability to work well with others


  • 5 years of experience in an IT solution development discipline, including technical architecture, network management, application development, middleware, database management or operations
  • Experience serving as a Technical Lead on key initiatives or projects


  • Physical health sufficient to meet the ergonomic standards and demands of the position
