Job Description

Overview

This position is responsible for designing and developing instructional materials and employee communications that support company initiatives and objectives, and that facilitate improved employee job performance. As the e-learning designer, you will focus on the creation, marketing, and overall ownership of the eLearning training strategies through our Learning Management System.

 

Responsibilities

  • Designs and develops classroom courses, web-based courses, and employee communications that support the business strategy and meet the learning and development needs of the business areas.
  • Conducts needs assessments to develop the basis for curriculum development or to update curricula. Assesses training needs through surveys, interviews with employees, focus groups, or consultation with managers, instructors, or customer representatives.
  • Maintains advanced knowledge of features and functionality of course authoring tools.
  • Collaborates with business units and area experts to determine course content and appropriate method of delivery. Negotiates and challenges training solutions regarding course design, technology, and instruction delivery options with business areas when appropriate.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts and conducts other research to develop instructional content.
  • Applies adult learning principles and best practices, and adapts instructional content or delivery methods for different levels or types of learners.
  • Develops and disseminates effective communications related to operational initiatives, general organizational announcements, and communications that support the employer of choice culture.
  • Evaluates training materials prepared by subject matter experts, such as outlines, presentations, handbooks or handouts and ensure quality and effectiveness of all training materials.
  • Assists the business areas in the creation, maintenance and delivery of Standard Operating Procedures and other operational reference materials.
  • Monitors and evaluations training activities for program effectiveness. Develops alternative training methods
  • Create infographics for communications and or training materials, digital platforms as necessary
  • Participate in developing standards and best practices for content creation and sharing
  • Ability to work simultaneously on multiple projects under tight deadlines
  • Produce, edit and publish video packages to multiple channels
  • Modifies and retouches photos for print and digital production
  • Collaborate with vendors to select type of paper and ink
  • Maintains brand integrity and understand appropriate logo use and works closely with the Marketing Department.
  • Illustrate concept by designing rough layout of art and copy regarding arrangement, size, type size and style, and related aesthetic concepts
  • Ability to create eLearning courses explaining specific functionality of software using small video snippets.
  • Travel as necessary

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  •  Bachelor’s Degree in graphic design, instructional design, or a related field
  •  Masters Degree in a related field preferred

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND/OR SKILLS

  • Knowledge of and experience in implementing training practices and principles
  • Hands-on experience using eLearning development software, Adobe Captivate preferred.
  • Hands-on experience using video recording and editing software such as Adobe Premier or Camtasia preferred.
  • Experience with the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash, and Premier) preferred.
  • Technical Writing, Teaching/Training, performance measuring, multimedia, curriculum and course development
  • Knowledge of project management preferred
  • Knowledge of current human resources, training, and organizational development trends
  • Knowledge of state and federal employment laws and human resources
  • Solid PC skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to develop and facilitate training
  • Strong verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills

WORK BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE 

  • 3-6 years of related experience in training/instructional design

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical health sufficient to meet the ergonomic standards and demands of the position.
