Job Description

Overview

Intake Coordinators are responsible for receiving, interpreting and processing health information data from a variety of providers by the utilization of systems such as VITAL, Navinet, ClearCoverage, Sharepoint, and/or IDX.  Reviewed services include retrospective admissions, inpatient/outpatient notifications, emergency room visits, precertification requests and requests for home health/durable medical equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Receives all communication relative to utilization of admission information for current members and enters data into the CCMS and/or Vital system within 24 hours of the requests.
  • Receives all communication relative to utilization of referral information for current members and enters data into the CCMS and/or Vital system within 48 hours of the requests.
  • Maintain ongoing tracking and appropriate documentation on admissions and/or referrals to promote team awareness and ensure VPHP compliance.
  • Verifies member eligibility for services
  • Assists with collection and compilation of data for daily/monthly statistical reports of utilization of member services
  • Review and confirm necessary medical information such as history, diagnosis, and ICD 9/10 codes.
  • Review details and expectations about admissions and/or referrals with providers.
  • Generates and distributes all authorization reports on a daily basis as directed
  • Assists in training new personnel
  • Participates with in-service education as directed by the Manager
  • Exercises safe work practices and maintains an orderly work area
  • Any other duties as assigned

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIRED

 

  • Some college level coursework and/or medical assistant certification highly preferred

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND/OR SKILLS

  • Strong customer service experience working in a fast paced call center
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Teamwork orientation
  • Organized and able to manage competing priorities
  • Resourcefulness in problem solving along with good judgment
  • Able to take and follow through with delegated tasks and accountability

WORK BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Previous experience with computers and data entry
  • Previous work experience utilizing CPT and ICD-10 coding highly preferred
  • Have at least 1-2 years of healthcare experience

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Physical health sufficient to meet the ergonomic standards and demands of the position
