Job Description

Overview

Provide services in the recruitment and maintenance of a quality transportation provider network in accordance with the corporate plans of Virginia Premier Health Plan, Inc. The Transportation Provider Service Representative is responsible for recruitment of transportation providers, rate and contract negotiations. This position will require 75% travel.  

Member Operations

As a managed care organization, the areas within Member Services play a major role for our members. Our ability to enroll and then welcome our members, secure their information, answer questions, assign primary care Physician’s and provide transportation to and from appointments is critical to the health and lives of our members.

Responsibilities

  • Follows the direction of the Manager, Transportation Support in the implementation of corporate plans for the development and maintenance of a quality transportation provider network based upon the identified needs of the organization.
  • Specifically deals with our Transportation Network and acts as the Subject Matter Expert for transportation issues
  • Participates in the active recruitment and retention of transportation providers.
  • Regularly meets with transportation providers during the negotiating and contracting process
  • Receive and handle all request from potential transportation providers
  • Assists in the submission of completed new provider applications to the Contracting Staff for Credentials processing in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Provides prompt and efficient response to transportation providers or provider-related issues with appropriate, objective documentation of concerns, recommendations of resolution, monitoring and re-evaluation.
  • Participates in the development, maintenance and distribution of accurate provider information, lists, and reports within and external to Virginia Premier Health Plan.
  • Participates in the development of transportation manuals, policies and procedures in accordance with Virginia Premier Health Plan.
  • Maintain database of potential providers
  • Must maintain valid driver’s license and clean driving record
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

 MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Four (4) year college degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND/OR SKILLS

  • Analytical skills – proficient using Microsoft Office including Microsoft Excel

  • Openly and actively communicates information and takes initiative to communicate extensively
  • Ability to handle difficult situations diplomatically
  • Strong time management
  • Effective interpersonal skills, collaboration, and listening skills
  • Ability to build strong relationships within and outside the health plan
  • Detail oriented and strong organization skills
  • Negotiation skills

WORK BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience in provider services and contracting helpful.

  • Contract and contract negotiation experience
  • Preferably transportation experience in the healthcare industry
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Physical health sufficient to meet the ergonomic standards and demands of the position.
