Job Description

Overview

Virginia Premier Health Plan, Inc.’s Analyst Development Program, EMERGE, allows college graduates to gain valuable experience in the health and managed care industry.  EMERGE participants will accelerate their knowledge and experience through hands-on mentorships, and working in operational analytics in a collaborative environment.

 

Responsibilities

  • Graduates are selected for Business and Technical Analyst Tracks
  • Program begins with training in the areas of analytics, the healthcare industry, business operations, professional skills and Lean Six Sigma methodology.
  • Training is followed by critical rotations in two operational departments based on career interest and skill set. Rotations include: Financial Analytics, Information Systems, Claims, Medical Management and Member Operations/Customer Service, Provider Network Development.
  • EMERGE participants are assigned an experienced mentor who will help guide their on-boarding and development experience.
  • Mid and final evaluations will provide two-way feedback and opportunities to discuss full-time operational placement

  • Challenging Experiences—Opportunities to work on significant projects and responsibilities that impact business operations.
  • Training & Development—Focused training on technical skills and operational knowledge, while professional development is provided throughout the duration of the program. Example of Training Topics: Health Care Operations, Applying Lean Six Sigma Tools, Time Management, Advanced Excel, Effective Presentation and Communication, Leading Effective Meetings, Critical Thinking, and Emotional Intelligence.
  • Fun & Networking— Sponsored events held throughout the course of the program, including business and professional development sessions.
  • Mentorship—Participants are assigned a mentor who helps them ease into the Virginia Premier environment and culture.
  • Full-Time Employment— Participants are guaranteed a full-time analyst position upon successful completion of the program
  • Lean Six Sigma Certification
  • Paid Holidays

Qualifications

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • College graduate from an accredited university
  • Interest in pursuing a career in the health care industry
  • Adaptability—we are an evolving organization in a fast-changing industry, so we look for people who thrive when faced with change
  • Effective teamwork and verbal communication skills
  • Analytical skills, either in Information Systems or Business Analytics

IMPORTANT NOTE:  The EMERGE program has a scheduled start date of late January with interviews taking place in December.

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Physical health sufficient to meet the ergonomic standards and demands of the position.
