Job Description

Overview

Assist the Sr. Compliance Manager and Program Integrity Department in conducting corporate compliance program activities, preparing training and education materials and serving as a subject matter expert on the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).  Advise and collaborate with management on policies and procedures as they relate to corporate compliance expectations.

 

Responsibilities

  • Plan and manage large-scale initiatives to ensure timely and accurate completion of program objectives
  • Assist in updating, maintaining and ensure adherence to the Program Integrity and Compliance Plan
  • Conduct analysis of regulatory changes to determine impact to corporate stakeholders
  • Track regulatory changes and ensure appropriate information is disseminated accordingly
  • Provides or assists in providing employee training on compliance related topics, policies or procedures
  • Oversee corporate policy management, including collaboration with business owners to ensure appropriate and complete policies and procedures
  • Investigate and analyze issues regarding healthcare policy
  • Assist in the identification, implementation, and maintenance of the organization’s compliance, HIPAA and privacy policies and procedures
  • Assist in the investigation and remediation of any suspected violation of HIPAA requirements
  • Establishes and maintains a mechanism to track access to protected health information
  • Creates, facilitates, and promotes activities to foster information compliance awareness within the organization and related entities
  • Research and assist on Federal and State regulatory requests or potential issues of non-compliance
  • Travels and represents Virginia Premier at Provider Education Meetings and other provider community engagements/activities
  • Participates in the development, implementation, tracking and monitoring of all business associate agreements to ensure that all HIPAA/Privacy concerns, requirements, and responsibilities are addressed
  • Assist in the development and submission of reports/reviews required for state or federal regulatory agencies
  • Initiates, leads or participates in compliance-related or organization-wide research projects and initiatives
  • Works with the organization personnel involved with any aspect of release of protected health information, to ensure full coordination and cooperation under the organization’s policies and procedures and legal requirements
  • Participate in DMAS and other regulatory audits, meetings and initiatives
  • Maintains current knowledge of applicable federal and state privacy laws and accreditation standards, and monitors advancements in information privacy technologies to ensure organizational adaptation and compliance

Qualifications

 

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS 

  • College degree required, experience replacement acceptable
  • Familiarity with health care legislation and standards for the protection of health information and patient privacy preferred

WORK BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE 

  • Education and experience relative to the size and scope of the organization
  • 1 – 3 years’ experience with Healthcare or HIPAA compliance
  • Demonstrated skills in collaboration, teamwork, and problem solving to achieve goals
  • Demonstrated skills in verbal and written communication

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Physical health sufficient to meet the ergonomic standards and demands of the position.
