Overview

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Transportation Safety and Maintenance Specialist assists with the transportation safety program to ensure safe and effective operation of the Transportation area. The positon works to ensure routine, preventative maintenance and needed repairs are performed on company vehicles.

 

Responsibilities

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the transportation safety program for the transportation staff.
  • Provide appropriate driver/passenger safety materials to transportation supervisors.
  • Assist with the annual driver improvement training for company transportation drivers
  • Conduct behind the wheel evaluations for transportation drivers.
  • Monitor Driver Authorization Release Tracker.
  • Ensure all vehicles are licensed in the correct jurisdictions.
  • Inspects new vehicles before they are placed in service and disburses new vehicles into the fleet.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of corporate and transportation vehicles.
  • Inspects damaged and wrecked vehicles and approve repair services following company guidelines.
  • Assist with investigation of accidents, as they occur to identify corrective or preventive action.
  • Ensure follow-up paperwork is collected and complete.
  • Acts as a liaison between company and auto insurance carrier in reporting accidents, gathering documents, estimates, etc.
  • Serve as point of contact for transportation staff equipment; (i.e. uniforms, car seats, step stools etc.)
  • Monitor and update fuel cards and car pool cards as needed.
  • Mileage for all vehicles, repair work and all incidents/accidents).
  • Update Quarterly Accident/Incident Spreadsheet.
  • Monitor the Travel Reservation Site for vehicle request and assist with scheduling rental vehicles
  • Monitor and ensure completion of Vehicle Checklist for returned vehicles.

 

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS 

  • Must be a high school graduate or equivalent
  • College coursework in business, transportation, management preferred
  • Safety certification a plus 

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND/OR SKILLS 

  • Proven experience in Transportation or other operational area
  • Prior experience in inspecting or auditing preferred
  • Prior audit experience and/or knowledge of Medicaid guidelines a plus
  • Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks
  • Good organization skills and the ability to prioritize task
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Ability to read and write English fluently  

 

WORK BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE

  • Two (2) years vendor relations experience preferred
  • Experience administering a driver safety program preferred

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Physical health sufficient to meet the ergonomic standards and demands of the position.
