Job Description


The Application Developer position is responsible for delivering innovative software solutions that address business needs. This position will leverage technical knowledge and analytical skills to design, develop, test, and deploy high quality solutions for internal and external customers, with minimal defects. The Application Developer may assist with any of the technologies supported by the Systems Integration team.

  • Collaborate with project teams to implement system specifications, integration points and software interfaces.
  • Present technical ideas and high-level concepts and solutions to internal and external team members with varying degrees of technical knowledge.
  • Completes applications development by coordinating requirements, schedules, and activities; contributing to team meetings; troubleshooting development and production problems across multiple environments and operating platforms.
  • Perform technical evaluations, solution and design approaches to business needs and recommends system solutions by comparing advantages and disadvantages of custom development and purchase alternatives.
  • Document application design, development and operational specifications.
  • Ensure the quality of code through formal testing and maintaining high standards of software quality through attention to detail and quality assurance using Junit and SonarQube.
  • Updates job knowledge by researching new internet/intranet technologies and software products; participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; maintaining personal networks; participating in professional organizations.



  • BS degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, preferred, or equivalent work experience


  • Experience in application design, development, and implementation using Java/JEE.
  • Experience in all aspects of system development life cycle methodologies including agile development.
  • Analyze various API specifications and implement integration solutions with 3rd party systems through web service development and implementation with SOAP and REST.
  • Experience in designing and developing enterprise applications using JSP, Servlets, and using ORM Frameworks such as JPA and Hibernate.
  • Familiarity with Build scripting tools such as Maven and Gradle.
  • Experience with continuous integration and continuous deployment tools such as Jenkins.
  • Design, develop and test Java based solutions using common standards and frameworks such as JAXB, JAX-WS, JAX-RS, JPA, JavaEE, Spring, and Hibernate. 
  • Experience with source code management using Team Foundation Server (TFS) or similar source control software
  • Good knowledge of database concepts and patterns with working knowledge on SQL and Stored Procedures.
  • Experience using XML, JSON data formats and ability to parse/create the data standards through the use of programming and scripts; EDI experience is a plus.
  • Experience with deployment and hosting with Apache Tomcat, IIS; experience with other web server technologies are beneficial.
  • Experience with web application development preferably in Java and including full web technology stack (e.g., HTTP, cookies, headers, caching, and security) and working with encryption/security using Private/Public Key, Hashing, x509 certificates, and implementing encryption protocols for network communication between client/server applications.
  • Ability to work as a team member in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
  • Proven ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
  • Ability to provide technical guidance and mentoring to the team.


  • Minimum of 5 years in Application Development in a multi-developer Java environment


  • Physical health sufficient to meet the ergonomic standards and demands of the position
