Job Description

Overview

The Clinical Systems Analyst II position is responsible for developing an extensive expertise in collection and analysis of data and data systems while supporting Virginia Premier’s Clinical Systems applications and end users. This position will also be responsible to the stakeholders of the applications which includes members of the organization, through consulting, assisting with design issues, and technical problem solving. This position will also be responsible for planning, and developing enhancements to the applications by working with developers as well as applying upgrades, service packs and hot fixes. Additional responsibilities include utilizing tools, scripting, reports, and other techniques for monitoring infrastructure hardware, software, applications, and business processes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support of several clinical applications (Care Management System, Electronic Health Record System, Practice Management, Vendor Authorization Intake, Emergency Department Care Coordination, Health Information Exchange, and Member Transition Records)
  • Provide support for clinical interfaces with current and future business applications needs (Lab, CCD, HL7, PAX)
  • Adhere to change management policies to minimize the impact of changes.
  • Become knowledgeable of the capabilities of all Clinical applications/systems, having a clear understanding of their capabilities and how they interact to identify additional integration opportunities.
  • Coordinate with other IT staff to consistently implement cross platform / application solutions.
  • Create standard operating procedures and manuals
  • Development of monitoring dashboards and reports
  • Facilitate the documentation of software, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor business process Key Performance Indicators
  • Install, configure, integrate, and operate monitoring software
  • Must be available to work evenings and weekends during server upgrade and system maintenance.
  • Participate in resolution of system problems on assigned systems.
  • Pro-active monitoring, incident management, and escalation of issues related to the monitored business processes.
  • Provide end user support.
  • Provide implementation, configuration, testing, and post implementation support.
  • Provide reporting services for assigned systems.
  • Providing extensive support to various departments by gathering business requirements, assessing needs, analyzing data, and designing new IT solutions to improve business efficiency and productivity.
  • Work closely with developers, vendors, and end users to ensure technical compatibility and end user satisfaction.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Systems or related field, preferred

SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND/OR SKILLS

  • Experience in supporting end-users in a corporate environment and excellent communication/teamwork skills
  • Knowledge of health care related information systems and experience with high level programming is preferred in order to understand the effect a new implementation will have throughout all related systems.
  • Ability to plan, test, implement, and troubleshoot system software
  • Familiarity with key change management protocols to minimize the impact of changes.
  • Ability to troubleshoot, research, and solve technically challenging problems involving integrated systems.
  • Ability to understand and document processes and issues in user departments.
  • Customize and configure specific applications in response to department needs; install and debug new and/or upgraded software on server and client platforms.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in enterprise level monitoring
  • Experience supporting end-users in a corporate environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2005 and 2008, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
  • Familiarity with ITIL standards
  • Familiarity with key managed care functions including claims, enrollment, and Medical Management.
  • MS SharePoint knowledge
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Project Management skills
  • Skill in effectively managing and prioritizing multiple projects and tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Skill in resolving customer complaints and concerns.
  • Understanding of Health Care Industry; knowledge and understanding of Protected Health Information (PHI)

WORK BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum 2-4-years IT experience as a Business/Systems Analyst
  • Minimum 2-4 years of experience in application support and troubleshooting

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Physical health sufficient to meet the ergonomic standards and demands of the position
