This position is responsible for developing expertise in the data and systems leveraged internally and externally by the Analytics department and Departments throughout the organization for the pharmacy team.  Responsible for working with various Operational Departments, Information Systems and Data Warehouse teams to meet the Pharmacy team’s organizational objectives. Additionally, responsible for gathering requirements, performing analysis, supporting the development and testing of processes, and understanding and documenting the applications, data, and associated technologies for the pharmacy team.




  • Develop and distribute reports related to multiple product lines and business units as assigned
  • Document applications for use in training, maintenance, and department procedures
  • Design and maintain data structures and systems
  • Perform moderate to complex queries.  Apply moderate understanding of database tables, relations, data types and values
  • Develop an expertise in pharmacy reporting functionality, including regulatory, UM, and other standard report systems
  • Assist in the design and development of the Data Report Systems
  • Assist in development of benchmark reports
  • Assist in the analysis and presentation of business opportunities
  • Participate in development and analysis teams with other Virginia Premier managers



  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Health Information Management, Mathematics, Information Systems, Economics, Statistics or related field preferred.


  • Working knowledge of a structured query language, such as Microsoft Access, TSQL, PL/SQL, SPSS or SAS
  • Moderate analytical thinking with some demonstrated talent for identifying, scrutinizing, improving, and streamlining complex work processes
  • Performs data analysis using statistical methods
  • Able to implement solutions to complex problems
  • Working knowledge of databases / SQL and OLAP architecture
  • Has and uses the required functional and technical knowledge and skills to do his or her job at a high level of accomplishment
  • Chooses appropriate tools or technology for tasks; experiments with new processes, tools, or technologies to determine applicability
  • Creates complex queries that join multiple tables / sources and significant data massaging
  • Provides opportunities for others to learn skills and concepts
  • Leads own work efforts. Contribute suggestions to team effort; may be called upon to support multi-functional team efforts.
  • Basic understanding of how work effects the enterprise and bottom line; ability to recognize problems and propose ideas for solutions
  • Solid ability to identify new sources of revenue loss in one or more units
  • Minimal coaching required
  • Able to troubleshoot most problems


  • Required: Minimum 6 months of experience in data analysis and/or report development
  • Preferred: Minimum 1-3 years of experience in healthcare (preferably Medicaid Managed Care, hospital, IT consulting), business analysis or application development/implementation, experience with Qnxt claims platform.
  • Six Sigma Yellow Belt or higher preferred.


  • Physical health sufficient to meet the ergonomic standards and demands of the position.
