    The Senior Project Management Consultant is a position that works collaboratively as a leader and participant on interdisciplinary teams within the organization.  This role is responsible for developing and maintaining communication with and among departments, clients and VPHP senior management to facilitate effective project execution and issue resolution.


    This position requires clear understanding of health plan operations, and the ability to interact with all levels of an organization.  Regular responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Works closely with designated operational areas to guide and/or manage large initiatives or programs
    • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams on multiple projects
    • Demonstrated ability to leverage project management methodologies to drive initiatives towards successful completion.   
    • Leading and coaching project teams and managers in full range of project execution topics
    • Identify informational or process requirements/needs, identify problems, provide consultation, and assist in determining logical solutions to problems; Facilitate identification of business requirements
    • Constructs and maintains project-related documentation: process flows, project schedules, charters, kickoff decks, RAID logs and other deliverables needed to support projects
    • Works within IMT to document standardized project management processes
    • Construct project-related documentation (e.g., Process Flows, Requirements, Standard Operational Procedures, etc)
    • Facilitates project management training, as needed
    • Coaches other project leaders on project management best practices, problem resolution, communication planning and issue escalation



    • Bachelor’s Degree required


    • Exceptional critical thinking skills with a solution focused perspective
    • Ability to work independently while managing multiple tasks, deadlines, and relationships
    • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills with an acute ability to listen attentively and to communicate effectively throughout all levels of the organization
    • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, Visio and Sharepoint (preferred)
    • Demonstrated presentation skills and ability to work on multiple cross-functional teams
    • Demonstrated success in leading and executing projects
    • Exceptionally skilled at follow up and  capturing action items
    • Understanding and awareness of key operations throughout the organization
    • Proven success in building partnerships with management and leading critical initiatives in collaboration with operations
    • Works well under time constraints with resiliency to change priorities as business needs dictate
    • Effective organizational change management skills:  leadership, communication, team building, facilitation
    • Complex critical thinking and analytical skills
    • Ability to communicate effectively to direct and motivate team and others, maintaining a persuasive and credible presentation style at all levels of the organization
    • Knowledge of Six Sigma methodologies, data analysis, process mapping, process analysis, data collection, and facilitation techniques
    • Understands and can demonstrate knowledge of statistical analysis and statistical concepts


    • A minimum of 2 years of managed care/health care experience preferred.
    • Solid understanding of managed care, Medicaid, Medicare and health insurance industry.
    • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience managing medium to large size projects
    • Project Management Professional (PMP) required
    • Program Management, preferred


    • Physical health sufficient to meet the ergonomic standards and demands of the position.
