    The Clinical Application Systems Specialist position involves extensive expertise in working with clinical and corporate applications, performing installations, support and maintenance.  This position involves working closely with clinical staff as well as the corresponding corporate applications teams to resolve problems and develop custom solutions to meet the business needs. This person provides leadership and mentoring to other analysts to help with their professional IT development in all aspects.


    Design, Implementation, and Enhancements

    • Responsible for planning and developing enhancements to the business’s clinical and corporate applications by working with developers, end users, as well as applying upgrades, service packs and hot fixes.
    • Provide extensive support to various departments by gathering business requirements, assessing needs, analyzing data, and designing new IT solutions to improve business efficiency and productivity.
    • Become knowledgeable of the capabilities of all workflow related applications/systems, having a clear understanding of their capabilities and how they interact to identify process improvement opportunities.


    • Provide Tier III support for clinical software, HL7 interfaces, and business applications.
    • Create ad hoc reports that meet business, compliance, and accreditation needs.
    • Contribute project management expertise.
    • Work closely with vendors and end users to ensure technical compatibility and end user satisfaction.
    • Serve as technical liaison between vendor and outside institutions in development of HL7 interfaces.
    • Adhere to change management policies to minimize the impact of changes.
    • Provide implementation, configuration, testing, and post implementation support.
    • Must be available to work evenings / weekends during server upgrade and system maintenance.
    • Occasional travel to remote offices may be required.
    • Performs other support related duties as assigned.

    Knowledge Transfer and Peer Development

    • Provide leadership and mentoring to members of the technical team.
    • Facilitate the documentation of software, policies, and procedures.
    • Coordinate with other IT staff to consistently implement cross platform application solutions.


    • Additional responsibilities include utilizing tools, scripting, reports, and other techniques for monitoring interfaces, software, applications, and business processes.
    • Development of monitoring dashboards and reports.
    • Pro-active monitoring, incident management, and escalation of issues related to the monitored business processes.



    • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred, in Computer Science, Business Administration, Information Systems or related field.


    • Experience with EMR/EHR support/design in a family practice clinical setting
    • Familiarity of HL7 interface exchanges
    • Familiarity of EDI file format of 837/835/277
    • Customize and configure specific applications in response to department needs; install and debug new and/or upgraded software on server and client platforms.
    • Experience in Python, Perl, Java a plus.
    • Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), and SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS).
    • Ability to plan, test, implement, and troubleshoot system software
    • Experience in supporting end-users in a corporate environment and excellent communication/teamwork skills
    • Familiarity with key managed care functions including claims, enrollment, member operations and provider services.
    • Project Management skills
    • MS SharePoint knowledge
    • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office products
    • Understanding of Health Care Industry; knowledge and understanding of Protected Health Information (PHI)


    • Minimum 2 - 4-years IT experience as a Business/Systems Analyst
    • Minimum 2 - 4 years of experience in clinical application support and troubleshooting


    • Physical health sufficient to meet the ergonomic standards and demands of the position.
