    Overview

    As a key member of the Virginia Premier digital team, this full-time position is responsible for creating and delivering compelling and user-centered digital products that promote and advance Virginia Premier’s brand, marketing efforts, and audience engagement. The Digitial Designer makes informed design decisions balancing business needs with the needs of users. The candidate will continually improve Virginia Premier’s digital products through strategic planning, user research, and continuous improvement.

    Responsibilities

    • Design, create, develop, and maintain the Virginia Premier website and other digital marketing products. Ensure consistent visual branding and design standards across all digital products. Work with stakeholders to gather digital design requirements. Lead user research, workshops, stakeholder interviews, and online testing to gain insight into user needs, tasks and goals. Make informed design decisions based on user data.
    • Create visual artifacts to articulate, inform and validate ideas with consumers and stakeholders, including prototypes, wireframes, sketches, customer journey maps, and user personas. Communicate progress in presentations and meetings to stakeholders; implement design in final product. Create and maintain digital style guide.
    • Work closely with key stakeholders and marketing development team to translate Virginia Premier strategic goals into measurable key performance indicators (KPIs) that can be tracked within web analytics tools. Refines user interface designs based on these findings.
    • Shoot, edit, and upload digital video for use on website and social media sites to support marketing efforts and messaging

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

    • Four-year degree in Visual Design, Digital Marketing, or Human Factors Design

    SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND/OR SKILLS 

    • Strong user experience design skills for a variety of digital products including websites with content management system integration and web applications. 
    • Strong visualization, conceptualization and design production skills. Ability to quickly produce wireframes and prototypes and translate these into complete digital products.
    • Ability to integrate brand, visual storytelling, and user-centered design into elegant high-performing design solutions.
    • Excellent presentation and writing skills; ability to clearly present design comps, prototypes, project goals, and status to both internal and external teams.
    • Ability to lead user workshops, gather ethnographic research and make design recommendations based on findings.
    • Strong business analysis skills, including abilities: to gather business requirements; diagram workflows to improve business processes; set, measure and analyze performance indicators in web analytics to continually improve product design.
    • Ability to work and communicate with business stakeholders and technical teams. Ability to lead and facilitate productive brainstorming sessions, gain consensus and convert ideas into design artifacts.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills required. Ability to provide excellent client/customer service, and establish lasting positive business relationships; team oriented, collaborative, diplomatic and flexible.
    • Strong knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, and UX prototyping tools (Sketch, InVision, Adobe Xd).
    • Solid understanding of front-end development (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript) and content management systems such as WordPress, Drupal, or Webflow.
    • Understanding of video shooting, lighting, and editing principles and software.

    WORK BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE 

    • Three to five years of UX design, website design, visual design, and information architecture experience
    • Thorough and evolving knowledge of current digital marketing technologies, strategies, and tool sets

    • Physical health sufficient to meet the ergonomic standards and demands of the position
