    Overview

    The Business Performance team provides oversight of reporting and ensures accountability of all departments across Virginia Premier through corporate data and metrics. The comprehensive range of work performed by the Business Performance team allows for the opportunity to assist departments in their projects and initiatives.

    The Business Analyst I will be responsible for developing an expertise in corporate data systems and reporting.  Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: gathering requirements; analyzing data; supporting the development of testing processes; understanding and documenting the applications, processes, data, and associated technologies for supported areas; develop an understanding of Medicaid and Medicare reimbursement, payment, and risk methodology; and provide analytical support for the Business Performance Team.  

    Responsibilities

    • Assist in the design of the Data Report Systems.
    • Document projects and develop user instructions for training purposes and other duties as assigned.
    • Demonstrate accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail at all times and looks for ways to improve and promote quality.
    • Strong logic and analytical skills required for both business analysis and report testing.
    • Assist in business case development.
    • Assist with cost/benefit analysis.
    • Ability to communicate with clients.
    • Develops innovative approaches and ideas and present information in a manner that gets other’s attention.
    • Good inter-personal relationship and demonstrated ability to work in a team.
    • Determine if requirements are clear, concise, and testable as well as meeting customer expectations.
    • Builds relationship with stakeholders.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor’s Degree. Degree in Business, Information Systems, Health Care or related field preferred.     

    SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND/OR SKILLS

    • Exposure a structured query language, such as SQL.
    • Exposure to relational databases.
    • Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, with high proficiency in Excel.
    • Moderate analytical thinking skillset.
    • Basic understanding of how work effects the enterprise and bottom line.

    WORK BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE 

    • Preferred: 1 year of business experience. Experience in data analysis, report development, healthcare business analysis or application development/implementation preferred.
    • Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Physical health sufficient to meet the ergonomic standards and demands of the position.
