    Overview

    This position is responsible for developing an extensive expertise in Virginia Premier’s corporate finances including received revenue and medical claims and administrative expenses. Responsibilities include providing analytical and reporting support, gathering requirements, performing analysis, and understanding the data and associated technologies for supported areas. 

    Responsibilities

    • Develop and distribute reports related to multiple product lines and business units as assigned
    • Update, automate and/or streamline existing processes
    • Document applications for use in training, maintenance, and department procedures
    • Design and maintain data structures and systems
    • Perform moderate to complex queries. Apply moderate understanding of database tables, relations, data types and values
    • Assist in the design and development of the Data Report Systems
    • Assist in development of benchmark reports
    • Assist in the analysis and presentation of business opportunities
    • Participate in development and analysis teams with other managers (including managers of other organizations)

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS 

    • Bachelors Degree in Business, Health Administration, Mathematics,  Information Systems, or related field preferred.

    SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND/OR SKILLS

    •  Intermediate to advanced knowledge of structured query language (SQL or other) and Microsoft Excel
    • Moderate analytical thinking with some demonstrated talent for identifying, scrutinizing, improving, and streamlining complex work processes
    • Performs complex data analysis using traditional statistical and/or non-traditional methods
    • Ability to analyze complex problems and develop solutions
    • Working knowledge of databases / SQL
    • Creates complex queries that join multiple tables / sources and significant data massaging
    • Provides opportunities for others to learn skills and concepts
    • Basic understanding of how work effects the enterprise and bottom line; ability to recognize problems and propose ideas for solutions
    • Leads own work efforts. 
    • Contribute suggestions to team effort; may be called upon to support multi-functional team efforts
    • Minimal coaching required
    • Able to troubleshoot most problems 

    WORK BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE 

    • Required: Minimum 1 year of experience in data analysis and/or report development
    • Preferred: Minimum 2 years of experience in healthcare (preferably Medicaid Managed Care), business analysis or application development/implementation
    • Six Sigma Green Belt preferred.

    • Physical health sufficient to meet the ergonomic standards and demands of the position.
