    Overview

    This position is responsible for providing HR & OD support to the business areas, including the coordination and administration of a range of programs and activities related to the employee performance, and employer-employee relationships that contribute to satisfactory productivity, motivation, and morale.

    Responsibilities

    • Equips managers with appropriate tools and knowledge to effectively manage their people, e.g. performance management, absence management, career management etc.
    • Embed a performance management culture within the business area as a means of driving business improvement by ensuring clear objectives, feedback and the improvement of customer service through behaviors aligned with our values.
    • Supports the business areas with the development of their people, providing advice, guidance and training on team or individual development plans.
    • Works with the business area to establish and utilize systems that identify employees with high potential, develop career paths in consideration of key roles for succession planning and self-development.
    • Works in partnership with the business to manage employee relations issues. Addresses issues relative to employment and counselings by conducting investigative interviews and other appropriate means.
    • Identifies gaps in existing HR & OD policies and contributes to the development of new HR & OD policies and procedures; communicates new/revised policies and procedures to the business areas.
    • Maintains knowledge of state and federal regulations as it pertains to employee relations and ensures that the department and its policies and procedures remain in compliance with those laws.
    • Partners with business areas to develop communication plans and methods for effective communication in support of various initiatives, programs and practices.
    • Coaches and/or counsels employees and managers on their performance and behavior in accordance with the organization’s goal to be an employer of choice
    • Administer, manage and coordinate the effective operations of HR & OD programs, e.g., Career Enhancement Program, management development program, performance appraisals, exit interviews, stay interviews, employee suggestion, and other plans.
    • Facilitates training on various topics, i.e., PRIME 100 classes, New Employee Orientation, Management Development courses, Career Enhancement Program sessions, LEAD sessions, and operational training courses.
    • Makes routine visits to satellite offices to develop relationships with staff in all areas.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
    • PHR or SPHR certification preferred
    • Masters Degree in a related field preferred

    SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND/OR SKILLS

    • Knowledge of human resources and training practices and principles
    • Knowledge of current human resources, training, and organizational development trends
    • Knowledge of state and federal employment laws and human resources/training/organizational development fundamentals
    • Solid PC skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office
    • Ability to develop and facilitate training
    • Strong verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal communication skills
    • Demonstrated interpersonal skills 

    WORK BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE 

    • 3-6 years of related experience in various aspects of human resources and training

    • Physical health sufficient to meet the ergonomic standards and demands of the position.
