    Overview

    This person will participate in the design, development, implementation and support of systems through the utilization of industry-current database tools and technologies. The person will ensure the proper definition, control and coordination of data elements and standards, and the facilitation of efficient data relationships, systems integration and physical structure. The role will be responsible for all lifecycle aspects of the solution development, from scoping, gathering and documenting requirements, design, development to support and maintenance.

    Responsibilities

    • Partners with IT and business users to understand the requirements and document, translate them into technical design
    • Design and develop custom solutions through the use of Microsoft SQL Server SSIS, SSRS and/or Microsoft SharePoint
    • Participates in all aspects of application development.
    • Develops automated applications surrounding data extracts and data cleansing routines.
    • Establishes design and coding standards for database processes and ensures adherence to those standards
    • Propose and develop strategic improvements in technical areas of implementation, support and enhancements.
    • Leverages the development team to provide 24x7x365 support for business critical applications
    • Troubleshoot user database issues which include working with the individual end-user groups, Engineering, external clients as well as the Technical Support organizations of our 3rd party vendors.
    • Interpret data and work with cross-functional teams to identify and correct technical performance issues.
    • Participate in defect triage and work with project team/vendors to resolve prioritized defect fixes
    • Partners with IT and business leadership to help shape the data and information direction of the organization
    • Stays abreast of technology advances and participates in the evaluation and implementation of new technologies into the environment

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

    • Bachelor’s Degree is preferred, especially in Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Systems

    SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE AND/OR SKILLS

    • Working knowledge of health care claims systems such as QNXT, Facets, Amisys, or similar systems or development tools a plus
    • A broad understanding of the health care field and related processes a plus
    • Knowledge of EDI 834, 837 and 835 files is a plus
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills required
    • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing requirements
    • Ability to effectively prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects

    WORK BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE 

    • Strong hands-on technical experience (5+ years) in Microsoft environment (SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS, TFS) and writing complex queries using SQL
    • Advanced knowledge of T-SQL, Stored procedures

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    • Physical health sufficient to meet the ergonomic standards and demands of the position
